Come Join Us!
Welcome! Ours is not a social club, although we certainly have our share of fun! More importantly, we strive to make a difference in the lives of others in our community, state, and nation. The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women's service organization, dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education. We are not a genealogical society, although we are all bound by the common thread of having a Revolutionary War patriot as an ancestor. View the video “Today’s DAR” to learn more about the DAR.
How Is work accomplished? Most of the volunteer work of DAR is accomplished under a committee system which promotes the mission of the Society in historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
How are DAR chapters involved? Volunteer work is accomplished by our individual chapters, which receive direction and ideas from the National and State Societies.
How do we become acquainted? We encourage prospective members to attend as many of our meetings as they are able. A chapter meeting is a good opportunity for us to meet you. Please contact us a week or so ahead of the second Wednesday of the month to secure a reservation if you would like to attend.
How do I start my lineage research? If you are interested in joining DAR, gather your own birth and marriage documents, plus your parents' birth, marriage and death documents. Be sure that you have birth certificates that show the names of the parents of the newborn child (many omit this information, and it is essential to our documentation). We will guide you from there.
What constitutes acceptable patriotic service? The National Society reserves
the right to determine the acceptability of all service and proof thereof. The
National Society accepts service, with some exceptions, for the period between
19 April 1775 (Battle of Lexington) and 26 November 1783 (withdrawal of British
Troops from New York). Please visit the DAR web site for guidance,
http://www.dar.org/national-society/acceptable-service.
We look forward to hearing from you! Again, we are glad you are interested
in DAR and look forward to your participation with us. If you have any questions
about DAR or our chapter, feel free to email us at judgedavidcampbell@gmail.com.
