Emphasizing American Freedom in DAR Activities and Programs
Organized April 15, 1939
November 15, 1776-January 11, 1852 Jane Knox was the daughter of Colonel James Knox, of North Carolina, who fought in the American Revolution. She married Major Samuel Polk on December 15, 1794. They were the parents of the 11th President of the United States, James Knox Polk. Samuel and Jane Knox Polk are buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, Maury County, Tennessee.
