OLD GLORY MEMBERS
are vibrant, interesting women who are passionate about community service, preserving history, educating children, as well as honoring and supporting those who serve our nation.
We Are Women a Lot Like You
Old Glory Members come from diverse backgrounds. While many are from Middle Tennessee, others have relocated to the area. Bringing with them perspectives from other regions in the country, their involvement with the chapter broadens our view and inspires new ways to connect with our community and each other. Our members possess a wide variety of professional expertise, some retired, many currently in the workforce, all willing to contribute to the furtherance of DAR.
Having a Variety of Interests
Each member is a unique individual whose personal views lend themselves to volunteering with Old Glory in differing ways. Some are interested in promoting good citizenship. Others bring awareness to the chapter of women’s issues. Some have a passion for improving literacy, while others may invest their time supporting veterans and active military personnel. In addition, our members have many different hobbies and leisure activities. Whether you enjoy hiking or quilting, knitting or horseback riding, golfing or traveling, you will likely find someone who shares your interests. As we volunteer alongside one another, Old Glory members develop relationships that extend beyond the chapter. Old Glory members become friends.
Sharing a Common Bond
Embracing our diverse backgrounds and interests, Old Glory members share a common bond which is lineal descent from patriots of the American Revolution and a commitment to foster patriotic pride in our nation. We are all daughters. We are mothers, grandmothers, nieces, and aunts. We are thankful for our heritage and delight in establishing connections to our ancestors and each other.
Researching our Families
We share an interest in genealogy, but being an experienced genealogist is not a requirement to become a member of DAR. Old Glory has a team of volunteers who are available to help you throughout the process of discovering your patriot ancestor. We enjoy learning about our ancestors and the role each played in our nation’s history.
Celebrating our Nation
We are dedicated to perpetuating the spirit of the men and women who rendered material aid to achieve American Independence and are committed to fostering patriotic pride in our nation. Through our involvement in community patriotic celebrations like Franklin on the Fourth, we are honoring our patriot ancestors while teaching others the importance of the history of our nation.
