Marker located in Maryville, Tennessee at the corner of Washington and Neff Streets.
Dedicated in 1928 by the Mary Blount Chapter.
John Craig’s Fort built in 1785 encompassed approximately 2.2 acres of land within 15-foot palisade walls. The fort was created to protect the citizens from raids. The area extended south of the marker to the base of a bluff, where a large spring was located.
